Neoprene-lined Warm Wellies for kids and adults who love the outdoors. Designed by a farmer with four outdoors and farm-loving kids.
‘The idea of creating Warm Wellies for kids came from a very practical need – to stop our children getting “frozen toes” when they were outside with us on the farm. Our aim was to create wellies that are warm and comfortable, so our kids could stay outdoors longer and enjoy their country life.
No more crying over cold feet
No more tingling toes
Wearing Warm Wellies means our kids will never have cold feet or frozen toes again.’
Simon Wood, together his wife Cookie, moved to Hillfield Farm, Cumbria in 2000 to farm and raise their family.
As well as looking after 300 breeding sheep they also spent time enhancing their landscape with over 6,500 trees and 2.8km of hedges. They are honest, down-to-earth farmers with a strong family focus – pretty important when you have four children! When they moved to Hillfield Farm, their daughter Chloe was just a baby, but their family quickly grew and they now also have Isabel and twin boys Archie and Tom.
The children had to spend a lot of time outdoors and often complained about getting cold. Simon and Cookie could never find wellies warm enough to stop the inevitable twining about frozen and tingly toes – no matter how many pairs of socks they wore. So, in 2006 they decided to do something about it. At the time Chloe was 6, Isabel was 4, and twins Archie and Tom were 2. No one could have a better incentive or the practical hands-on experience to develop Warm Wellies than Simon and Cookie.
They embarked on their journey to design and manufacture the first neoprene-lined wellies for kids in 2006. 18 years on, they are still growing and expanding their range.
Their customers spend lots of time outdoors with their kids, they love puddles, rivers, mud and snow, and they also love the fact they stay warm and toasty.
Parents love the kids’ wellies because they keep feet warm and very comfortable. They began asking them to produce adult wellies too, so they now have a range of four styles of wellies for grown-ups – and also gardening shoes that are great all year round.
The wellies are designed on the farm in Cumbria and then produced in China, with Simon overseeing production each time, before being shipped for distribution to their customers from the family farm in Cumbria, United Kingdom.
In Autumn 2024 the company introduced two new colours to their range of kids’ wellies – red and yellow. Available for little feet from size 6-13, they are fun colours but still very practical and warm wellies.
For almost a decade the company has been providing wellies for forest schools and discount codes for forest schools to pass on to their parents. Find out more here.

If you have any feedback or ideas for improvements, please feel free to drop Simon a line.
‘We’re outside 8 hours every day in all weathers and the children are required to wear appropriate waterproof clothing and footwear. We find Warm Wellies are extremely durable, the neoprene lining keeps the children’s feet warm with adequate grip on the sole to play safely without slipping. They also benefit from a reflective hanging loop. We would recommend The Warm Welly Company to any outdoor or forest school nurseries, the wellies are fantastic and the service we receive is always very friendly and efficient.’ – Woodland Outdoor Kindergartens, Glasgow
‘We have been recommending Warm Wellies to our parents for years and our parents are always delighted by the quality of the wellies. They are easy to order and warm to wear and, with our children being outside all day every day, they stand the test of time.’ – Leanna Barrett, co-founder, Little Forest Folk
